Well worth seeking out, this little gem of a market is hosted by Thomas and Frederique in their garden. Especially worth the trip if you missed the exhibition last month - some highlights are shown on the poster above. There is always something of interest and everyone is welcome. Bienvenidos a esta edición riquisima : 

Para empezar una introducción a la exposición de Foto y Instalación por Yurga Vile a las 12h!  

Después a las 12h30 un concierto con dos instrumentos muy particulares: Una "Wanderzithar" que es una guitarra hecho para utilizar afuera en la naturaleza y que sirvió para un movimiento de protesta aleman antes de estar prohibido por los Nazis. Acompañado por una sierra musical. 

El Café filosófico propone una charla sobre el terrorismo financiero inspirado por un libro de Vincent Navarro.

 

La buena comida esta garantizado por Shirley y Karen.

Festival en Defensa Del Agua, Festival to Protect the Water of the Rio Aguas, Los Molinos Del Rio Aguas, Saturday 11th March 2017

 

The Association for the Protection of the Rio Aguas invites you to a festival which highlights the threat to the waters of the Rio Aguas. It will take place in the village of Los Molinos del Rio Aguas on Saturday 11th March.. 

There will be guided walks up to El Nacimiento, the spring which feeds the river, with explanations of how the flow has been reduced by over-exploitation of the aquifer. To be sure of a place on one of these walks please call 951 190 263. 

This aquifer feeds the water supplies of a large area which includes Sorbas, Lucainena de Las Torres, Uleila, Tabernas, Antas, Bédar, Benizalón, Lubrin, Los Gallardos, Garrucha, Tahal and Vera. The reduced flow of the spring is an indicator of the great pressure on this resource.

Other attractions include a craft market which opens at 10.00am, food stalls and traditional music from 1.00pm, and the chance to visit the Sustainability Projects (Sunseed Trust, El Mirador de Los Molinos y la Pita Escuela) which are  based in the village between 4pm and 7pm. The day will round off with live music from Piratas de Cabogata and Yakunde

Los Molinos del Rio Aguas is situated in the heart of the Paraje Natural Karst en Yesos, on the scenic AL-140, between Sorbas and Junction 504 of the AP-7 motorway

Por la mañana haremos una caminata guiada por el prof. José María Calaforra (Universidad de Almería) y Andrés Pérez (Asociación Amigos de Sorbas) al nacimiento del Río Aguas para conocer el problema desde cerca. 

Por la tarde los proyectos ubicados en la barriada de Los Molinos (Sunseed Trust, El Mirador de Los Molinos y la Pita Escuela) abrirán sus puertas para que puedas conocer las iniciativas sostenibles que se llevan a cabo en esta aldea. 

Por la noche habrá música en directo, desde música de Rock con los PIRATAS de CABOGATA hasta Reggae de corazón con Jorge Yakunde.

Ecomercado Domingo 26 Febrero 11-2 Cariatiz

We are hoping for a lovely sunny day for the ecomarket at Cariatiz this month!

There you can find organic fruit and veg, home made vegetarian pasties and cakes and the local Filabres microbrewery beer, plus local crafts and upcycled clothes.

But the market is much more than that!

There is an exhibition of sculpture in the cortijo and there will be live Gypsy Violin from Peter Martin. Plus a discussion of Filodeporte which I think translates as Philosophy Sport but we will have to wait and see. There is definitely a discussion of mind and  body and an associated table tennis tournament!

Thomas and Frederique welcome us all to this event in their home and garden between 11 and 2 on Sunday 26th February.

El mercadillo se encuentra en cortijos de Arte La Barquilla, Cariatiz, cercano a Sorbas. 

Cariatiz is a group of tiny villages; Los Martinez, Los Andreses, Los Monicos and Los Alias, just north of the A370, the road which runs between Los Gallardos and Sorbas.

Please follow the red painted signs once in the village. The turning down to La Barquilla is opposite the square in Los Alias where the Geological Museum is.

Cariatiz es un grupo de diminutas aldeas; Los Martínez, Los Andreses, Los Monicos y los alias, al norte de la A370, la carretera que discurre entre Los Gallardos y Sorbas.Siga los letreros pintados en rojo una vez en el pueblo. El giro hacia la barquilla está enfrente de la plaza de Los Alias donde es el Museo Geológico.
